Features to know about

Upgrade From Drum to Disc: 13" Hub-and-Rotor Kit Delivers Reliable Braking

If your drum brakes are fading or uneven, this 13" DeeMaxx disc brake kit gives you stronger, smoother stopping. The 1-piece hub-and-rotor assemblies eliminate the gap where rust and runout can start, while ceramic brake pads keep braking consistent. The kit fits 8,000-lb axles with #42 spindles, uses 9/16" wheel bolts, and includes all bearings, races, seals, E-Z Lube caps, and stainless lug nuts for one axle.

Built for Salt and Fresh Water: Maxx Coating Resists Corrosion

Saltwater and winter roads can ruin unprotected brakes fast. The Maxx coating on these rotors, calipers, and brackets lasts more than 1,000 hours in salt spray testing—far beyond zinc or Dacromet finishes. It keeps moisture and rust from taking hold even after repeated launches or coastal towing, giving you long-term reliability in harsh environments.

Keeps Cool Under Load: Vented Rotors Prevent Fade and Wear

Steep grades and heavy loads push brakes hard. DeeMaxx vented hub-and-rotor assemblies move air through the core to dissipate heat quickly. Drainage holes in the hat section also help shed water and reduce internal corrosion. The result is cooler running brakes that hold performance over time and resist brake fade on long descents.

Simple Maintenance and Service: Smart Details Save Time

Disc pads are easy to swap because the calipers mount outside the hub—no springs or magnets to fuss with. Each caliper has laser-etched bleeding instructions right on the back, so you always have a guide when it’s time for maintenance. With fewer moving parts than drum brakes, this setup takes less upkeep to stay in top shape.

Long-Term Strength You Can Count On: Proven Design and Warranty

Automotive-grade materials and a side-support caliper bracket design put the load on the bracket instead of the bolts—reducing wear and keeping everything tight. These brakes passed the SAE J2681 automotive brake test for friction performance and come backed by a 7-year warranty for dependable service mile after mile.

Video Transcript for Review of DeeMaxx Trailer Brakes - Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Kit - DE63AR

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the DeeMaxx 13 inch Hub and Rotor Assembly Kit with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, the nine 16th inch studs for 8,000 pound axles, and it has a Max coating finish on this. Now this kit will let you upgrade your trailer from drum to disk brakes for superior performance. It will include everything laid out here on the table. It'll include the two Max coat cast iron hub rotor assemblies, and it even has the pre-installed bearing races in them.

Comes with the two inner bearings, the two outer bearings, the two grease seals, the two EZ lube grease caps. The lug nuts are included, you can see, a total of 16 nine 16ths by 18 lug nuts. And then the calipers are included. They are a Max coated caliper with brake pads and installation bolts. And over here are the Max coated caliper mounting brackets.

Now this kit will require a hydraulic brake actuator that's rated at 1500 PSI or above, and brake lines to activate your brakes. Those items we do sell separately on our website. Now the hub and rotor assembly we talked about, it's a one piece hub and rotor assembly. This will reduce the chance of uneven rotor wear. If you look on the side here, it's a vented design.

They have the vents that go all the way around. This will dissipate heat faster to prevent premature brake pad wear. And also, if you look on the hat section right here of the hub and rotor assembly, they have the drainage holes in here. And this will allow water to drain easily, further minimizing any corrosion. Now this is great for towing and launching your boat in either fresh or brackish type water.

The corrosion resistant Max coating that's on the hub and rotors, the calipers, and the caliber brackets will have a salt spray rating of over a thousand hours. This will offer dramatically shorter stopping distances and a lot smoother controlled braking. Now I did want to show you in the calipers, they do come with the ceramic brake pads to increase the stopping power. And the piston in here, on the inside, is a stainless steel two and a quarter inch diameter piston, which will provide fast, responsive braking. And the other nice thing about it, it requires minimal maintenance, saving time and money. And one of the nice features on this, if you look at the outside of the caliper, they actually laser etch instructions on the caliper to take any guesswork out of installing and bleeding the brakes. Now this is designed to fit the AL-KO 8,000 pound axles with the number 42 spindle. The wheel size that'll fit on these is 16 inches and larger. We mentioned the bolt pattern is eight on six and a half inches. Wheel bolt diameter of nine 16ths inch. Rotor diameter is 13 inches. And I wanted to show you on the caliper brackets, you can see they have the four holes in them, so they are designed to fit a four bolt brake flange configuration your axle. But that should do it for a look at the DeeMaxx 13 inch Hub and Rotor Assembly Kit with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, the nine 16ths inch studs for 8,000 pound axles.

See what our Experts say about this DeeMaxx Trailer Brakes

  • Replacement Trailer Disc Brakes for an Alliance RV with 8K Axles
Hey Wade, thanks for reaching out! To upgrade your 8K Dexter Axle to disc brakes, I recommend picking up the DeeMaxx Disc Brakes which comes with either 9/16" Studs # DE63AR or 5/8" Studs # DE93AR depending on what you're needing. I really like the DeeMaxx kits because they use a better coating than most other brake companies out there; they boast an impressive over 1,000 hours salt spray rating that I have yet to see another brand come close to matching. What do you think about these kits?

  • Recommended DeeMaxx Disc Brake Conversion Parts for a Trailer w/ 8,000 lbs Axles
Welcome back Randy! There's no 8,000 lbs kits but I have all the parts you'll need to convert your trailer's 8,000 lbs axles to disc brakes. I have listed them below: DeeMaxx Disc Brakes - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 item # DE93AR if you have 5/8" lug studs or item # DE63AR if you have 9/16" lug studs. These are sold as a pair of left and right assemblies so you'll need two sets for a tandem axle trailer. They work with 16" and larger wheels. DeeMaxx Alpha G1600 Electric Over Hydraulic...

  • Can 2019 Grand Design Momentum 381M be Upgraded to 8K Suspension Parts in Stages
Hey Kyle, good to hear from you again! You can definitely upgrade the suspension components on your 2019 Grand Design Momentum 381M in increments because the 7K and 8K brakes match enough that it can work out that way, you just need to make sure the bearings for your current brakes will match up with the 8K axles when you purchase them. We unfortunately don't carry any axles rated higher than 7K so you'll have to take the bearings numbers you currently have with you to your local RV dealership...

Hey Dewayne! Since your 2022 Vanleigh Beacon 41FLB has 8k axles I recommend the DeeMaxx Disc Brakes # DE63AR. Are you converting from electric brakes? If so, you will also need a brake line kit # HS496-252, a breakaway kit # 3802308 (if you don't already have one), and an electric over hydraulic actuator # HS381-8067.
